Ubud

Ubud is a wonderful place to live or visit. It’s lush, green and pristine, with fresh, clean air and beautiful surroundings. It’s popular amongst those who prefer a quieter, more holistic way of living and those looking to get away from the congestion, heat and hustle and bustle of South Bali. For decades, Ubud has attracted a unique crowd of explorers, artists, yogis, nature lovers and spiritual enthusiasts thanks to its reputation as Bali’s cultural and spiritual hub. Located in the heart of the island, Ubud is surrounded by rice fields, thriving jungles and lush river valleys.

UBUD NEIGHBORHOOD

The town itself comprises a number of main villages with Ubud central being the main hub of activity and commerce. Filled with tourists, it offers the best shopping, dining, resorts and cafes. It is also home to the Ubud Palace and the famous Traditional Ubud Market. Here, visitors can spend hours exploring arts
and crafts, paintings, wood and stone carvings, rattan products and other handmade items.

Being in Ubud means that there will be plenty of opportunities for cultural experiences including Balinese dances and theatrical stage performances. As Bali’s spiritual and cultural hub, Ubud hosts many exciting international festivals such as the Writers & Readers Festival, Bali Spirit Festival, Ubud Food Festival and the Bali International Jazz Festival.

Thrill-seekers who love adrenaline-rushing activities will also love Ubud as its location means easy access to whitewater rafting, mountain climbing, off-road cycling, waterfall hiking and canyoning. Culture lovers can visit one of the many museums in and around Ubud or even visit one of the artisan villages nearby to watch local artists at work carving wood and stone and creating beautiful paintings.

Ubud welcomes over 3 million tourists each year and was named the number 1 city in Asia by Travel + Leisure Magazine in 2022. Despite all of these notable achievements, Ubud regency in its entirety is not overly developed. There are still large swathes of productive rice fields fringed by tall coconut trees and blooming gardens everywhere, with many homestays, resorts and restaurants incorporating the paddy plant into their gardens and design layouts.

Outside of Ubud central, just minutes away in the surrounding villages, are acres of productive rice fields with clear views of the mountains and jungles in the distance. Here, one can find stunning luxury villas and delightful, cozy houses nestled in their own little haven, the perfect tropical home for those who want to experience peaceful yet luxurious island living.
